Tell us about your role with Inverroy?
I’m a Crisis Communications and Business Continuity Consultant, which means I help organisations prepare for and respond to disruptive events. That could include anything from developing business continuity plans and policies to conducting business impact assessments or scenario-based exercises. Alongside that, I manage our e-learning platform for Security & Situational Awareness Training, helping people build practical skills and confidence in a way which is engaging.
What made you pursue a career in this industry?
In previous roles, I often found myself drawn to creating Standard Operating Procedures and documenting key processes — I enjoyed making sense of complexity and helping others work more efficiently. Over time, I realised that what I really valued was structure and preparedness, which naturally led me towards business continuity and crisis management. It felt like the right step, a role where those instincts really matter and can make a genuine difference.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
One of the standout moments for me was achieving my CBCI certification. It felt like a real marker of everything I’d learned and contributed over the years. Since then, I’ve been building on that foundation, working closely with clients to develop continuity plans, lead their annual BC reviews, map their key suppliers and guide them through exercises and training. All of that hands-on experience has deepened my understanding and made me even more confident in what I do.
Do you apply your business continuity and resilience skills in everyday life? How so?
Definitely. Once you start thinking in terms of risk and planning ahead, it becomes second nature. Whether I’m booking travel, budgeting, or just watching the forecast before a big day out, I tend to have a backup plan in mind without even realising. Since going through the Security & Situational Awareness Training, I’ve become especially aware of personal safety while travelling — just small things like knowing your surroundings or thinking ahead in unfamiliar places. It’s a useful mindset to have.
What do you think clients are most worried about? Why do they come to Inverroy?
Most clients come to us because they’re feeling uncertain — whether it’s a cyber threat, supply chain issues or something reputational. They want to feel more in control and know they’re doing the right things. We offer that steady, experienced support to help them cut through the noise and make confident decisions in the face of uncertainty.
